Why should I join a sorority?
Joining a sorority is one of the biggest and most important decisions you will ever make. Being an Alpha Tau allows you to become more involved on the University's campus, form bonds with like-minded individuals, and gives you a community within a community to prosper and mature throughout your college years. There's more to joining a sorority than getting to wear letters on a sweatshirt. You immediately have a group of people who share similar interests as you. You not only are part of the sorority at the University of West Alabama, but you are part of a national organization with many chapters and a network of people. You and your sisters will develop a bond over time--and you will likely keep in touch with them long after you graduate.

What “type” of girl does AST accept?
There is no specific "type" of an Alpha Sigma Tau. Selection of new members is based on the individual. The only requirement we have for new members is that she be well-rounded, dependable, intellectual (2.5 GPA), and ready to face new challenges and social opportunities. Alpha Sigma Tau is the sum total of our membership; its progress and achievements are determined by the ability and quality of its members.
